Claire M. Fontaine

I am a second year student at the CUNY Graduate Center studying Urban Education Policy and Interactive Technology and Pedagogy. Before I started my PhD I taught high school English for five years at a transfer school in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Recently I have been studying and researching the impact of copyright law on the creation and distribution of online educational material and software, and the potential of the Creative Commons license models to open up access to content. I'm also researching the ways in which students' learning experience is transformed by various learning management systems (LMS) like Moodle and the Social Media Classroom. And my newest research interest relates to the utility and efficacy of so-called professional development (PD) in technology for K-12 educators through school-university partnerships.
